Hi, I’m Monica.
I bring deep curiosity and compassion to my work, grounded in the belief that each of us has an inner world made up of different parts. These parts are shaped by our past experiences, cultural messages, and relationships. When they are in conflict, they can lead to anxiety, self-doubt, and feelings of not being good enough.
As a second-generation Asian Canadian with Korean heritage, raised in Toronto, I understand how cultural expectations and intergenerational burdens can affect your sense of self. You may have parts that push you to overachieve, parts that believe you are unworthy of love, or parts that silence your needs in order to keep the peace. I understand these patterns, because I have worked with many of them in myself too.
My own healing journey through childhood trauma, disordered eating, loss, and struggles with boundaries has deepened my connection to this work. These experiences allow me to meet you with warmth, presence, and genuine understanding.
I practice therapy through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS), a model that helps you get to know your parts and build a trusting relationship with your core Self. This Self is not something you have to create—it is already within you, and it holds qualities like calm, clarity, compassion, and confidence.
If you are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or a harsh inner critic, IFS can help you understand and heal the parts of you that carry these burdens. Therapy is not about fixing you. It is about helping the parts of you that have been working hard to protect you feel seen, supported, and safe enough to soften. As those parts begin to heal, your authentic Self can lead with more ease, and you can experience greater freedom, connection, and self-trust.
If you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I invite you to reach out. You do not have to navigate this alone. I would be honoured to support you on your healing journey.
